Dressed in backless gown with a lot of feather motifs engrossed on the outfit, actress Pallavi Sharda perfectly essayed a tribal "Rajputani" for designer Samant Chauhan at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Spring-Summer 2014.

"Each season, we try to bring a new concept of Rajputana through my collection and the theme this time is tribal. This collection is all about Rajputana's tribes so we took lot of elements from tribes. Feather is one of the key motif for this collection apart from skull and eagle prints," Chauhan told IANS.

The "Besharam" fame actress looked no less than a style diva when she walked the ramp in her seductive style, showcasing the art of wings and patchworks used as motifs on her gown. Her modelling experiences in the past added confidence in her look.

On choosing Pallavi to be the part of the show, the designer says that she was an apt choice to represent his designs.

"She is a very fashion-conscious person and this is reflected in the way she dresses up. Also, she hasn't walk for any other designer so far... one thing is that you always want to associate with somebody who can actually relate with your brand so for me, she was the perfect choice," said Chauhan.

There were whole lot of nude and beige colours used on the garments that varied from long and flowing gowns and dresses.

Sharing his love for subtle colours, Chauhan said: "This is my brand philosophy and it will never change. I doubt if I will ever use bright colours in my collection."

Like many believe that calling Bollywood for fashion shows divert attention from clothes but for this designer who hails from Bihar, it adds to the brand value: "Bollywood does help in business, promotion and to reach to the wider audience. Also the chances of media focusing on your show get higher when a celebrity walks for it."

Next in the line was designer Manish Gupta who brought enduring visualization with his Spring Summer 2014 collection titled "Carved Desires".

"Carved Desires is a collection that has been created deriving great inspiration from baroque and Mughal artworks hence you can see a lot of characterized detailing. The hand cutwork and sheer embroideries in the collection significantly celebrates the Mughal opulence," Gupta told IANS.

The range reflected indelible craftsmanship and textures with baroque and mughal artworks woven into ensemble-like dresses and gowns. The use of sheer hand cutwork and velvet yarns lends opulence and magnificence to the collection.

The colour palette varied from myriad pastel shades emphasising a lot on soft yellows, light greys, soft aqua, peach, sand and lime.

It started on a positive note, but Ranbir Kapoor-starrer `Besharam` is slipping at the box office. Trade experts say that the movie had a good opening, but couldn't retain the footfalls on the subsequent days.

The film, which released Wednesday, hit 3,600 screens in India and 700 screens overseas. Critics were not too impressed with the movie and wrote that "with 'Besharam', Ranbir sinks to a low".

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh termed the Abhinav Singh Kashyap-directed film's box office collection as an `epic disappointment`.

`'Besharam' (earned) Wednesday Rs.21.56 crore, Thursday Rs.7.13 crore, Friday Rs.5.68 crore, Saturday Rs.5.94 crore. Total is Rs.40.31 crore net. Epic disappointment!,` Adarsh posted on Twitter.

`Besharam`, which also stars Ranbir's star parents Neetu and Rishi Kapoor along with newcomer Pallavi Sharda, was made at a budget of Rs.60 crore in addition to the cost of promotions, marketing and advertising.

`First day was good, but second day onwards the performance of the film has drastically dropped. Even on weekend, I don't see any improvement,` Puneet Sahay of Spice Cinemas told IANS.

The movie has been co-produced by Himanshu Mehra, Sanjeev Gupta and Reliance Entertainment.

No relief: With 11.62 crores on weekend, Besharam slips at BO

Despite the massive star status of Ranbir Kapoor, Besharam seems to be struggling at BO which clearly proves that stardom don't work every time. If we go by the second day collection of Abhinav Kashyap's Ranbir Kapoor starrer, then after securing a massive response on its opening day and collecting approximately Rs 21 crores, the second day was somewhat nightmarish where collection of the movie witnessed a steep fall.

And if we try to find out the reasons behind this massive disaster then the reasons which paved the way for the same seems to be, adverse reviews by the critics, a bad word of mouth publicity, and probably inapt release timing that is mid-week holiday.

On day one major chunk of Besharam's collection came from Mumbai where Besharam did a business of approx Rs around 7.17 crore, whereas in Delhi the movie raked in Rs 5 Crores approx.

As far as overseas collection of the movie is concerned then Besharam made NZ$6,537 ( Rs. 3.36 lakhs) for New Zealand and Pound 58,494 ( Rs. 58.80 lakhs) for the UK. And besides that it earned A$14,646 (Rs 8.51 lakhs) in Australia.

With an earning of 7 Crores, 'Besharam' falls flat on day 2

Unfortunately, ‘ Besharam’ could not be registered a hit film under Ranbir Kapoor’s name. The negative word of the mouth from critics will definitely create a bad impact on the film’s box-office collection. The film released yesterday on holiday but failed to spark magic at the box-office The opening day collection was not so impressive and the movie could only mint 20.50 crores in the opening day.
Released on holiday, ‘Besharam’ could not collect good numbers. Despite negative reviews, Ranbir Kapoor’s fans thronged to their nearest theatre. In the opening day, the film occupancy was registered 90-95%.
‘Besharam’ directed by Abhinav Kashyap is an action-comedy featuring Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and Pallavi Sharda in the lead. The film also has veteran actors Rishi and Neetu Kapoor. The movie was highly promoted but critics and audience rejected it saying it is a dull movie making no sense.
In the film, Ranbir plays a street-smart Delhi mechanic who lives in a local orphanage.
The actor said about the film: “It is a comedy and the character I play is a bit over the top, flamboyant, vulgar, repulsive, so it was fun playing it. I don’t think I would really label it as a comedy, it’s still your quintessential Hindi entertaining film. It has the comedy, the romance, the drama, the action. It’s basically taking the piss out of yourself. It’s quite exciting because it is a new genre for me”.
For the first time Ranbir shared screen space with his parents and he shared his experience, “My preconceived notion was that it would scary. I thought I would screw up in front of them and not be able to say my dialogue right. Just the fact that they are my parents. But I think they themselves are such great actors, hard-working, passionate actors, that when we came on set everybody surrendered to their own parts and I think it was a good experience. Also the dynamic between our characters was comedic; they’re playing cops, I’m playing a robber, so it was like spy vs spy. It was fun to do”, he concluded.
Though the numbers are not too high, it is expected that it may catch up in the coming weekends.

According to Rishi Kapoor who plays a hefty Haryanvi cop Besharam is the Dabangg of Ranbir Kapoor's career.

But if we are talking dollars and sense, wasn't Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani the Dabangg of Ranbir's career?

After giving us such a blockbuster earlier during the year Ranbir is all set to blow the lid off the boxoffice with his his crass act in Besharam. The film 'shamelessly' tries to explore the Dabangg space relying on the arching antics of a hero belonging to a generation twice removed from Salman Khan.

Ranbir peeing on the sarso fields from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge has already incensed Shah Rukh Khan fans enough to resolve to stay away from Besharam.

But ask Ranbir if he cares.

With a record-breaking 3,600 prints being unleashed this Wednesday Besharam promises to give cinematic kitsch a notorious twist.

Says trade analyst Taran Adarsh, `The expectations from Besharam are humongous. It's Ranbir after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and director Abhinav Kashyap after Dabangg. It can't get any better. Also, it's a massive release, Plus, it's releasing on a holiday with a 5-day weekend. Let's hope the film meets expectations.`

Amod Mehra too feels Besharam has a beshumaar future at the boxoffice. `Despite mixed responses to the songs and promotions Besharam would open to full houses on Wednesday. The main reason is Ranbir Kapoor. He has become a superstar.`

With no other big films releasing this Friday, Abhinav Kashyap's "Besharam" has a clean week as far as competition goes. The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer is hitting theatres Oct 2.

The film will be a litmus test for both actor Ranbir after superhit "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" and Kashyap post "Dabangg".

"Besharam" also stars Ranbir's actor-parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. Actress Pallavi Sharda, a newcomer who hails from Australia, plays the female lead in the film.
