Producer-director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is emphatic that Deepika Padukone, as Leela, in Ram Leela, will be in the most gorgeous and spicy avatar till date on the celluloid.
Bhansali has given his heroines some of their most unforgettable roles: Be it Manisha Koirala in Khamoshi - The Musical, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Guzaarish,Madhuri Dixit Nene in Devdas or Sonam Kapoorin Saawariya, When it came to Deepika's look of a Gujarati girl in Ram-Leela, he wanted to keep it as natural to his vision. Minimalistic make-up by Mehera Kolah and an undone light bouffant ensured that the actress looked ethereal. Bhansali even traveled to the interiors of Gujarat to source fabrics for Deepika's outfits, designed by Anju Modi.
About her experience of working with Bhansali, Modi says, "He doesn't believe in restricting creativity and that makes it a dream for any designer."
Further, to add authenticity to Leela's look, Deepika had to get traditional tattoos painted on her face and neck. Even her jewelry was sourced from the local markets in Gujarat. Says the actress, "Apart from the fact that he is one of the most celebrated directors, Sanjay sir has always been known for the way he presents his heroines.

So, other than getting to work with him, I was excited about my look in the film. His attention to detail combined with Anju's creative brilliance, helped Leela come alive."
Bhansali adds, "Leela is like my mother - beautiful, graceful, but teekhi! She's delicate, but she cannot be taken lightly. She isn't a recluse. She lives life to the fullest and on her own terms. She is color, she is what she is... I wanted Deepika to be that."

The release of actress Kangana Ranaut's next film "Rajjo" is clashing with "Ram Leela", but she says there is no competition with it.
"There is no competition with 'Ram Leela'. 'Rajjo' is not competing with 'Ram Leela'. Honestly I don't think our film is competing with any other film. It was the producer's call to release the film on Nov 15 and never in my lifetime have I interfered in these things.
"We will stand by our product and there is enough space and opportunity for all the films," Kangana told reporters at the unveiling of the latest cover of film magazine 'Cine Blitz'.

The year has been hectic as well as fruitful for the long legged dusky beauty Deepika Padukone. She has three back to back hit which include, ‘Race 2’, ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ and ‘Chennai Express’. Deepika has been working round the clock for her next big release this year and eventually she ended up hurting herself. She reportedly burnt her hand while holding a dhoop-dhan (metal bowl used to carry incense sticks) on the set of ‘Ram Leela’.
It all happened during the special garba song. She had to hold the dhoop-dhan for a long time which ended up scorching her hands. However, the actress did not complain and continued her shoot.
This is not the only story about her injury. During a dance sequence in ‘Ram Leela’, Deepika Padukone injured her back and she developed massive pain on her shoulder but she continued shoot.
On doctor’s advise, Dippy had to wear a brace around her back and shoulders to get relief from pain.
Says a source from the sets, “We were working on a tight schedule for shooting the track titled Nagada. Deepika was required to perform some complicated garba steps. When she complained about her backache, unit members became anxious about her well-being. Finally, she opted for a medical brace to soothe the tensed muscles in her back”.
The costume designer on the set had a tough time managing her costume in order to hide her braces.
The actress says, “It is a fun song where we had to put in our full energy. We had to feel the song and dance spontaneously to it. It had to come from within the heart.”
Well, going by the popular saying, ‘No pain, no gain’. We really hope Deepika’ dedication will be paid at the end of the day.

Deepika Padukone had to wear a shoulder contraption to deal with a backache before her shoot
Matching steps with a fast and peppy garba song is no mean feat and no one knows it better than Deepika Padukone. The actress was to shoot for a dance number in her upcoming film Ram Leela but came down with a massive pain in her shoulder and back just before the shoot commenced.
Not wanting to reschedule the shoot, Dippy had to wear a brace around her back and shoulders to ease off the pain.

Although presence of Deepika is sufficient enough to pull the masses to theaters to watch Ram Leela, but now the presence of seductive hot Priyanka has further soared the mercury.
Recently first look of Piggy Chop's item song in the movie was unveiled, where flaunting her fab abs and well toned thighs in a white raiment Priyanka has looked no less than a sex goddess. And besides that a tacky tattoo on her ribs and thick anklets, further enhances the prurient appeal of the song.

Why Deepika Padukone received a different dialogue sheet for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film every two hours
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to be a tough taskmaster and his leading lady Deepika Padukone got a taste of it during the making of Ram Leela. Sources say the director used to make frequent changes to his scripts, with the actress being handed a different set of dialogues every two hours.
An insider says, `Bhansali is a perfectionist. He expects the best from his cast. He is constantly improvising on the sets and asks his actors to re-do scenes until he is satisfied. ` And apparently that's why Dippy thinks the upcoming film is her toughest project yet.

The newly released song from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Ramleela' called "Tattad Tattad" promises to be a delightful watch for actor Ranveer Singh's fans as it features him flaunting his chiseled physique.
Penned by Siddharth-Garima, the song has been composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
The film tells a love story of Ram (Ranveer Singh) and Leela, played by Deepika Padukone.

UP activist moves court for ban on 'Ram Leela'
A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed before the Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench Wednesday for a ban on Bollywood film "Ram Leela", releasing Nov 15, if its makers did not change its name.
In her petition, social activist Nutan Thakur said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film has been given the name "Ram Leela" while it has nothing to do with this pious Hindu religious event.
Instead, the petitioner says, the film calls itself "Ram Leela of bullets" and that the official trailer of the film shows abusive language and intimate scenes between film actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, which are far away from the religious connotations the word "Ramleela" carries.

She also added that she has sought a ban on promos and denial of certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) if the producer does not change the name of the film.
In Jaipur, a court Saturday directed police to register a case against Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and others for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of people in "Ram Leela", a lawyer said.
The orders came on a complaint filed by lawyer Pawan Sharma.

Off late, a lot of movies are facing the ire of the advocates. The reason that can be attributed to it may be cheap publicity or even genuine public interest as the movies really affect the psyche of the masses.
An official statement from the publicists of Ramleela on this issue is keenly awaited!

A bewildered crew was forced to stop filming when Ranveer Singh wouldn't stop posing with fans
For Ranveer Singh, it may have been just another occasion to sign autographs for his fans but for the team of his upcoming film, it turned out to be a nightmare.
The actor was in Durgapur, a small town in West Bengal, shooting for Gunday when a crowd of people surrounded him asking for photographs and autographs. While the actor obliged his fans, the bewildered crew had to wrap up the shoot for the day.
In a similar incident, when Ranveer's co-star Priyanka Chopra went to a shopping mall in the town to buy books at a bookstore, the crowd got so unruly that the store owner had to call the police to escort the actress out safely. A friend of PC says, `Priyanka wanted to read up some local writers while she was there.`
