Surprises ahead in the upcoming season of 'Nach Baliye'

While no Bollywood films are without the usual song and dance routine, the upcoming season of Nach Baliye has only a few names from B-town who will be competing to take home the top laurels

Insiders say if all goes well, Bollywood will be represented by the likes of Mallika Sherawat, Rajeev Khandelwal and Chunkey Pandey.

A member from the show's crew says, `We are in talks with quite a few known faces, as our criteria is not to just have star couples on the show.` Among the actors who have been approached are Khandelwal, Jennifer Winget and Karan Singh Grover, Vivian D'sena and Vahbbiz Dorabjee, Anoop Soni and Juhi Babbar.

`Things are in the nascent stage and we expect to finalise the names and announce them soon,` says a crewmember. While Raqesh Vashishth and his actress wife Riddhi Dogra have already given their nod for the project, Mallika Sherawat too has promised to scorch the dance floor along with her prospective groom who she will choose to date from her TV show The Bachelorette.


Adds the source, `Mallika has committed to take part in the show but we are still working on her schedule.` While Khandelwal denies the buzz adding he prefers not to be part of reality shows, Anup Soni states, `Just like last year we have been approached this year too. We could be able to do some special episodes.

Oops! Trouble for Mallika in her native village

Actress Mallika Sherawat was mobbed by a crowd as she reached her native village Moth in Haryana's Hisar district to shoot for her TV show 'Bachelorette India'

Sherawat, whose real name is Reema Lamba, visited her village after a long time and was surrounded by a crowd of 3,000 to 4,000 people. The 36-year-old actress was here to shoot some scenes of her ancestral house for her show 'The Bachelorette India-Mere Khayalon ki Mallika'.



However, seeing the huge crowd, Sherawat did not step out of her car and soon left. Hisar's Superintendent of Police, Satish Balan told PTI over phone that the police had not been informed about the TV shoot in advance.

"The crowd in the village was beyond anybody's expectations. They were going crazy and wanted to catch the glimpse of the actor. Soon, we dispatched police personnel to control the situation," Balan said.

The actress was also supposed to go to a Gurdwara with her family members but could not do so. The "Murder" star is the daughter of a retired engineer from Haryana Mukesh Lamba and great grand daughter of renowned philanthropist Seth Chhaju Ram from Hisar.

2. Bipasha Basu: Single always ready to tingle....Bipasha's breakup with her long-standing beau John Abraham was followed by whispers of intimate frirndships with her Singularity co-star Josh Hartnett, her Dum Maro Dum co-star Rana Daggubatti and now Harman Baweja.

All three could be her prospective grooms on the show. Bipasha can walk away with any man whose name doesn't have a 'J' in it. Jab tak hai John....

3. Preity Zinta: She hasn't been in a relationship ever since she broke up with Ness Wadia. Now after two years of rigorous entrepreneurship surely Preity is ready to take the plunge.I recommend only the strong-willed wannabe grooms for Preity.She can't suffer under-age pinup boys at all.That kind of eliminates the Varuns and the Sushants.


4. Sushmita Sen: The ever-gorgeous ever-seductive Ms Sen remains the single-most desirable single girl in the entertainment business. She would be to the Bachelorette what Oprah Winfrey is to talk shows. But there is a problem.Sushmita makes every man feel special.So picking one groom on the show would be impossible.


5. Neha Dhupia: Single , sexy and solitary...Neha Dhupia is all of that. A couple of broken relationships.And she is standing at the threshold where something new and spectacular needs to happen in her life. Marriage is a good option. But be warned: Neha is not the simpering-bride material.


6. Diya Mirza: Blame it on Vidya Balan. Diya was all set to take the plunge with her filmmaker-boyfriend Sahil Sangha when Vidya stepped daintily into the picture offering to play the lead in Diya and Sahil's production. Now Diya has postponed her wedding plans.

So here is Plan B. Why not do the next season of Bachelorette and invite Sahil as one of the grooms? At least this time the televised swayamvar won't be a fake. What happened to the chosen bridegrooms of Rakhi Sawant and Ratan Rajput? No doubt Mallika's groom would also disappear due to `irreconcilable differences` Ha ha.

Another gimmick? Mallika doesn't want to marry anyone from filmdom

A "pathetic" and "lonely" life has led Mallika Sherawat to find "real" love via a TV show. And the actress is sure that she doesn't want to marry anyone from the glamour world.

"I don't want any person for myself from the entertainment industry. They don't attract me," Mallika said here Thursday at the launch of the show.

"You can see how pathetic and lonely is my life that to find love I have to come on TV. My world, which has glitz, glamour and films, is a make believe world. This is not a real world. I want to come out of this make believe world and enter the real world, where their is certain normalcy," she added.

The actress, who will try to find her soulmate through the reality show "The Bachelorette India - Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika", said many actresses found their love outside the industry.

"It is because of this normalcy only that you will see many actresses marrying doctors or businessmen. This is because they want real relationship with a real man. That is the only reason for me to come on TV and do the show," Mallika said.
v It seems Mallika is taking inspiration from Madhuri Dixit who married US-based surgeon Shriram Nene and Shilpa Shetty who tied the knot wtih NRI businessman Raj Kundra.

The actress, who has had several link ups including actor Antonio Banderas, is confident of finding true love in India.

"I want to find true love and I will get that true love in a Hindustani only and not anywhere else," Mallika said.

Meanwhile, the actress is looking forward to the show.

"For people, it is just a show but for me it is a long journey of my life. In the show, somebody is a clerk, somebody is a businessman and somebody is a computer engineer. There are all sorts of people, but normal people," the actress said.

"The Bachelorette India - Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika" will go on air Oct 7 on Life OK.

Mallika injured on 'The Bachelorette India....' set

The transition from Bollywood to television was literally painful for Mallika Sherawat. 

The actress, who will feature in Life Ok's reality show "The Bachelorette India - Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika", had reportedly fallen from a bike and hurt herself while shooting for the show's promo. 

"When Mallika was shooting for the promo, an unforeseen incident happened with her. The moment the bike accelerated, Mallika lost control and fell from it. Not just this, the sari got stuck in the wheel and unfortunately got torn," said a source close to the production house. 

"She faced minor bruises but her spirit was undeterred. She immediately got up and to everyone's surprise, created no fuss and agreed to re-shoot," the source added.

The dating reality show, based on the internationally popular format of "The Bachelor", focusses on finding a match for the actress among 30 contestants.

The show will be aired Oct 7 on Life OK.
